Melissa ISD will host the 13th annual Special Olympics track meet Thursday, March 24 at Cardinal Stadium, welcoming student-athletes from a number of area schools. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. with track and field events starting at 10 a.m. We welcome the community to come out and cheer on our Cardinal athletes!

Melissa ISD learned Thursday morning that one of our beloved elementary teachers passed away overnight. The district’s priority right now is to make sure that our students and staff are supported during this difficult time. We will share further information at a later time.

The Sixth Grade Center is hosting an Academic Expo where incoming 6th grade students and parents/guardians can learn about courses, scheduling, and more for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Families can come and go from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. The Sixth Grade Center is located at 2950 Cardinal Drive. For any families who missed our email, call, and/or text message earlier this morning, we announced that after further evaluation, Melissa ISD schools and offices will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 3. At the January school board meeting, the Melissa ISD Board of Trustees endorsed Melinda Keen and Dr. Tommy Shiflett to serve as the next principals of Melissa Middle School and the Melissa Sixth Grade Center, respectively, as Marcus Eckert and William Daniel have been selected for other principal roles within the district.
