Image showing immunization requirements for 7th graders

As students begin preparing for course selection and registration for the 2025-26 year, we want to remind parents of the state immunization requirements for all incoming 7th grade students.

The state of Texas requires all 7th grade students to have a Tdap booster and a meningococcal vaccine. These vaccines are typically given around a child’s 11th birthday. Read the Parent Letter for more information.

To meet this requirement, please provide proof of your child’s immunizations or a completed Immunizations Exemption Affidavit to the Sixth Grade Center nurse clinic or front office by the last day of school, May 23, 2025. For more information about state requirements, visit Texas Human Health and Services.

For parents who choose not to vaccinate their children due to an exemption for reasons of conscience, including a religious belief, an affidavit must be requested via the Immunizations Section Affidavit Request.

If you need assistance, the Texas Department of State Health Services of Collin County offers discounted and free services, call 972-548-5500 for more information. Questions can be emailed to immunizations@melissaisd.org.
