Parents and guardians of students entering Kindergarten this fall are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Kindergarten Round-Up is a come-and-go event and will be open from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Home Office, located at 1904 Cooper Street. Families can meet the school principal and learn about special programs, student bus services, school lunch accounts, and much more.
Prior to Kindergarten Round-Up, a custodial parent or guardian should complete the “New Student Enrollment” process online on the Melissa ISD website at www.melissaisd.org/enroll.
Note: Most of the Kindergarten enrollment steps can be completed online; however, there are some forms that must be completed in-person. Additionally, if there were any documents you were unable to upload during online enrollment, you can submit them in person to finalize enrollment. If you are unable to attend Kindergarten Round-Up, you can finalize the enrollment process by scheduling an appointment with the campus registrar at the school your child will attend.
Eligibility requirements for Kindergarten are as follows: the child must 1) turn five (5) years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025, and 2) reside within the Melissa ISD attendance boundaries.
If your child attended the Melissa ISD Pre-K/ECSE program this year, they are considered a returning student and must complete the returning student registration beginning July 16, 2025; you do not need to complete New Student Enrollment for Kindergarten. You are still encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up to meet the principals and learn more information about your student’s new school.
Kindergarten students will attend one of five Melissa ISD elementary schools based on the attendance boundary zone in which they live. Proof of Residency documentation is required for enrollment.
To learn more about Proof of Residency and determine which Melissa ISD elementary school your residence is zoned for, visit www.melissaisd.org/enroll.
Vaccination Clinic
State law requires children to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases to attend school in Texas. For a list of minimum state vaccine requirements for students in grades K-12, visit Texas Health and Human Services. Melissa ISD will be providing a vaccination clinic onsite at Kindergarten Round-Up from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for students who are not compliant with current vaccination requirements. Advanced registration is required, and parents will need to bring their child's immunization records. Visit www.melissaisd.org/immunizations to register and find more information.
