On Wednesday, September 18, Mathews Auto Group (Honda and Nissan in Paris, TX) celebrated two extremely deserving teachers from Melissa ISD by honoring them through their "Pay it Forward" initiative.
Among the honorees was Bre Iverson, a Pre-K teacher at Melissa Ridge Education Center. MREC Principal, Kimberly Cole, commended Iverson for her dedication to the students, saying, “Mrs. Iverson’s warmth and passion for teaching fills her classroom with joy! She makes learning fun and engaging, and her care for each student shines through everyday. Her positive energy doesn’t just stay in her classroom, it shines throughout our entire school. Thank you, Bre for the joy you bring to MREC!”
Also honored was Stephen Bynum, a Sixth Grade Advanced Math teacher. Sixth Grade Center Principal, Dr. Tommy Shiflett, expressed his admiration for Bynum, stating, “Mr. Bynum goes above and beyond for his students by helping to ensure he appeals to the differing learning styles of his students with his innovative use of technology, prompting an academically engaged group. Thank you, Mr. Bynum, SGC and its student population are better with you teaching here.”
The dealership owners, Tim and Julie Anderson, are a former Melissa Cardinal family and initiated the 'Pay it Forward' program to recognize educators who go above and beyond for students and the school without expecting anything in return. Both Iverson and Bynum were awarded $250 each through this initiative as a thank you for their service in education.
A big congratulations to these outstanding teachers! We truly appreciate everything you do for our Cardinals!
