Mark your calendars for the second annual Melissa High School student film festival on Saturday, May 20! Starting at 7 p.m. at the Melissa Arts Center, six student-produced short films will be screened with live audience voting to determine fan-favorites. The Melissa Cardinals return to the field for Spring Game Day on Saturday, May 13 in preparation for the upcoming football season. The game is free to attend. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium with community tailgating beginning as early as 5:30 p.m. Spots are still open for the "Game Day Experience" with both the football and cheerleading programs. On Tuesday, May 2, the Melissa ISD Athletics department will host a meet-and-greet with the new boys' basketball head coach, Stephen Friar. The Melissa High School theatre program will present two free shows on Friday, May 12 at the Melissa Arts Center, performing their award-winning UIL One-Act Play productions. The first show begins at 7 p.m. with “The Sweet Science of Bruising” performed by the Black Box Company (JV Theatre), followed by “A Monster Calls” performed by the Main Stage Company (Varsity Theatre). We are looking forward to holding the Melissa High School Class of 2023 graduation ceremony at the new Coach Kenny Deel Stadium on Friday, May 26, as a soft opening of the facility, welcoming attendance by family, friends, staff, and the community. The Melissa High School Senior Class of 2023 will participate in the annual Senior Walk tradition the morning of Monday, May 22. Family members are invited to attend the Senior Walk at the elementary campus of their choosing; all visitors must check in at the front office upon arrival. Seniors will arrive at the elementary campuses according to the following schedule: Willow Wood Elementary at 8:45 a.m.; Harry McKillop Elementary at 9:30 a.m.; and North Creek Elementary at 10:15 a.m.


Melissa ISD is seeking feedback from parents/guardians regarding the 2022-2023 school year. Parents will receive a direct notification with the survey link for their child's school. In addition, the surveys for all Melissa ISD schools can be accessed by visiting https://www.melissaisd.org/surveys. All surveys will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28.

Melissa High School theatre will present the Cardinal Cabaret in two shows on Tuesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Melissa Arts Center. The evening will be filled with song and dance as our musical theatre students perform group numbers, duets, and solos. The Cardinal Cabaret is free to attend. We hope to see you there!

As of 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 24, Melissa ISD is experiencing a widespread internet outage as a result of area storms, which is impacting email access and phone functionality across the district. Follow this link to read more detailed information: https://www.melissaisd.org/article/1049843.

Due to the severe weather forecast for Thursday and Friday, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the Melissa ISD Special Olympics track meet originally scheduled for Friday, March 24 at Cardinal Stadium.
