On Monday, Nov. 8, the community is invited to attend the Melissa Band Showcase and State Sendoff at Cardinal Stadium, where the band will perform a full run of this year's competition show, "Flight 2-0-2-1". The Melissa High School and Melissa Middle School Fall Choir Concert, originally scheduled for the evening of Oct. 14, 2021, has been postponed due to extenuating circumstances and will be rescheduled for a later date. Becki Girouard has been hired by the Melissa Education Foundation (MEF) to serve as the Executive Director, bringing more than 20 years of development experience to the foundation which offers support to Melissa ISD students and staff by providing scholarships and grants. The Melissa Schools Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Wednesday, approving an increase in the pay rates for substitute teachers who serve at Melissa ISD. The new rates, effective Oct. 4, offer competitive wages compared to school districts across North Texas.
