Seven student-athletes from the Melissa High School tennis program will advance to the regional tournament in Longview later this month after qualifying at district this week.
Melissa won second place overall in both the boys’ and girls’ matches at the UIL District 9-4A Tennis Tournament. Dawson Mercer took first place in the boys’ singles and was named the district champion.
Mackenzie Wilkie and Cayley Slentz won second place in the girls’ doubles. Om Patel and Cade Gentry won second place in the boys’ doubles. Osaze Osemwenkhe and Lars Costilla won second place in the mixed doubles.
