Ceclilia Tran - Theatrical Design State

For the first time in Melissa history, a student from the Melissa High School Theatre program has advanced to the UIL State Theatrical Design Competition in the Hair/Makeup category. MHS Senior Cecilia Tran is one of only nine students across all 5A schools to advance to the State competition.

Cecilia earned her spot at the State competition by submitting a detailed portfolio that showcased her creative vision and technical expertise. Her submission included a design concept statement, in-depth research, full-color renderings, application techniques, and a clear execution plan. Through her work, Cecilia demonstrated exceptional artistic skill, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of how hair and makeup can enhance storytelling in theatre.

Cecilia will compete at the state competition on May 16-17 in Austin, where she will present her designs to a panel of judges and give an oral presentation to explain her creative process.

Melissa High School Theatrical Design Coach Aubrey Moore spoke highly of Cecilia’s dedication and talent, sharing, “Cecilia has been working incredibly hard on this competition all year long. She is an extremely dedicated student, thespian, and designer, and we are so proud of her! We are excited to cheer her on when she competes at State this May.”

Congratulations to Cecilia on this remarkable achievement! Her talent, dedication, and hard work have paved the way for this historic moment. We are incredibly proud to see her represent Melissa ISD and  the Melissa High School Theatre program at the state level. Best of luck at State!
