The Melissa High School Debate team had an outstanding performance at the National Speech and Debate District Competition, held February 4-6, 2025, at Melissa High School, with nine students qualifying for the National Speech and Debate Tournament. Melissa secured the second-most national qualifiers in their NSDA district, competing against nearly 300 students from over 20 schools, many of which were from larger 6A programs. The Cardinals also earned the prestigious district sweepstakes award.
The students who earned their spot at nationals will now focus on preparing for the 2025 National Speech & Debate Tournament, scheduled for June 15-20 in Des Moines, IA.
Congratulations to these exceptionally talented students for their remarkable achievements, and a heartfelt thank you to Debate Coach Brenden Dimmig for his dedication, guidance, and the positive impact he continues to have on the team. Best of luck to the Melissa High School debate team as they continue their preparation for the National Speech and Debate Tournament.
