Melissa High School Advances 31 CTE Students to SkilsUSA State Conference

The Melissa High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) program has 31 students advancing to the SkillsUSA State Conference—more than double last year’s 13 state qualifiers. The MHS SkillsUSA program had 52 students compete in the District 5 Leadership & Skills Conference on February 20-22, 2025, in Waco.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) students with the opportunity to showcase their classroom training through hands-on competitions. Participants are required to dress in uniform and present a resume to the contest director or judge. Many events include both a skills assessment and a practical demonstration, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Through these experiences, SkillsUSA helps students develop technical expertise, leadership skills, and career readiness.

The CTE students participated in multiple different events, some qualifying for State in multiple events. These students will be competing at the SkillsUSA State Contest on April 2-5, 2025 in Corpus Christi.

Congratulations to these exceptional students and the teachers who coached these students all the way to State!
