At the recent Melissa ISD Board Meeting on September 17, 2024, Assistant Athletic Trainer Brianna Williams received a well-deserved honor—a Cardinal Commendation, highlighting her outstanding work and dedication to her field. Nominated by Athletic Director Seth Stinton, Williams has made a significant impact in her role, serving student-athletes and student trainers alike with tireless enthusiasm.
Stinton spoke highly of Williams, saying, "Bri is a diligent worker who maintains a positive attitude in all that she does. Her commitment to our student-athletes and student trainers has been very welcoming. She has been a great addition to the athletic training program."
Williams plays a crucial role as part of the Melissa ISD Athletic Training team, led by Head Athletic Trainer Allie Berman. Berman, who has been with the district for five years and leads the program for the last two, oversees a robust team that includes four staff members, 22 student trainers at the high school, and 16 student trainers at the middle school.
Stinton also praised the cohesion and vision of the athletic training team, saying, "Allie, Bri, Krystal, and Allison are a wonderful team. They work well together, they share their vision of athletic training with our student trainers, and they welcome our athletes into the training room. Our athletes are in great hands!"
These trainers play an integral part in the daily operations of both campuses, supporting athletes during games and practices, as well as providing care in the training room with treatments. Student athletic trainers also attend classes to study human anatomy and emergency care, preparing them for potential careers in the medical field.
Berman reflected on the program’s impact, sharing, “The Student Athletic Training program is a place for kids who like sports and are interested in the medical field. They get to have a team atmosphere and work together in ways they may not normally get to do. Our students are some of the hardest working kids on campus and have a passion for servant leadership.”
With a foundation built on leadership, dedication, and teamwork, recognition for the athletic training program is well-earned. Thank you to all the athletics trainers and the athletic training students for supporting all of our Cardinals through your skills, expertise, and hard work!
