Melissa ISD is accepting applications for the CTE Summer Workforce Program which allows students to gain hands-on work experience in technology infrastructure, electrical, installation, air conditioning (HVAC), and general maintenance and repairs. A limited number of spots are available (please see note below).
Students accepted into the Melissa ISD CTE Student Workforce program will work two assigned 8-hour days per week during summer break and will receive on-the-job training and instruction led by Melissa ISD employee mentors. Upon program completion, students will receive $1,500 with the opportunity to earn an industry-recognized safety certification from the OSHA Education Center.
Students must be available to work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 3 - August 15, 2024.
In order to participate, the student must:
be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade,
receive permission from a parent/guardian,
have reliable transportation to and from work, and
complete the online application by May 22. (Students must be logged in to their school email account in order to open and complete the application.)

Note: Melissa ISD has applied for the Summer Workforce Grant and we are anxiously awaiting an announcement of the recipients of those grants. We have been informed the announcement has been delayed. We have made the decision to go ahead and open the application process for the program. Applicants should understand, if we are not a recipient of the grant, we may have a small number of opportunities for part-time positions, but we will not have the full number of applicants (16-20) that the grant would provide.
