Melissa ISD students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to help fight hunger this fall by collecting and donating food items to support local families in need.
The Fall 2023 Food Drive will run from Nov. 6-15, 2023, and will encourage students to “fill the red bag” in their classroom with non-perishable food items. Student leaders on each campus from the Student Council and Interact Club will coordinate food collection and encourage participation among their peers.
Suggested non-perishable food items to donate include canned vegetables, fruit, soup, and tuna, along with dry cereal, rice, and boxed mac ‘n cheese. All food donations collected will go to families in the Melissa community through the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry.
