Kimberly Cole, Harry McKillop Elementary Principal

Mrs. Kimberly Cole brings 20 years of educational experience to her new role with the 2025-2026 school year being her third year in Melissa ISD. Since starting at Melissa, she has served as the principal at Melissa Ridge Education Center. Before joining the district she held roles as an elementary school teacher in Mckinney ISD and a principal for both elementary and secondary schools in Tyler, Hempstead, and Wills Point ISD.

Principal Cole shared her heartfelt thoughts on stepping into this role, “True leadership isn’t about being the best—it’s about growing, learning, inspiring, and bringing out the best in others. Harry McKillop Elementary is rooted in the heart of our district, a foundation where so many began their journey. I am honored and humbled to step into this role, eager to walk alongside an incredible staff, and committed to serving the students and families who make this school so special.”

The Executive Director of Campus Services, Walter Perez, shared, “Having known Mrs. Cole professionally for many years, I have seen firsthand her unwavering love for kids and her commitment to putting her team first. She has a unique ability to bring people together, ensuring that every decision is centered around what is best for students. I have no doubt that her leadership at HME will continue to inspire and uplift those around her."

Coinciding with this leadership transition, the Melissa ISD PreK program will be relocated back to the elementary campuses for the 2025-2026 school year. PreK students will attend the elementary school they are zoned for. Placement for Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), Bilingual, and other specialized programs will be communicated as elementary zoning is finalized and enrollment approaches.
