MMS Student Wins National Trumpet Competition

Melissa ISD is proud to congratulate Melissa Middle School 8th grade student, Isaac Gil, on being crowned the National Champion of the Junior Division at the prestigious National Trumpet Competition (NTC) held last week at Texas Christian University. Isaac’s victory marks a historic achievement as the first Melissa ISD student to win a national band competition.

Since 1992, the NTC has been a premier platform for young trumpet players across the nation, offering them the chance to perform for and learn from some of the world’s finest trumpet artists and educators. Known for its exceptional standard of excellence, the competition allows students to showcase their skills at the highest level.

Isaac competed in the highly competitive Junior Division, progressing through rigorous preliminary rounds to secure a spot in the finals. His exceptional performance earned him first place, making him the NTC Junior Division Champion.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Isaac,” said Sasha Blankenship, Melissa Middle School Band Director. “He epitomizes hard work, passion, and musical excellence. His success is a testament to his dedication and the strong support system around him.”

Isaac’s remarkable victory not only highlights his extraordinary talent but also showcases the strength and potential of Melissa ISD’s fine arts programs. We are thrilled to celebrate this incredible accomplishment and look forward to following his bright future.

Please join us, once again, in congratulating Isaac Gil, Melissa ISD’s first National Trumpet Competition Junior Division Champion!
