The Melissa High School Winter Guard won Scholastic A Class State Champions at the North Texas Colorguard Association Championships on April 6-7, 2024. The MHS Winter Guard competed with their program, “Fast Car,” against 12 other High School Winter Guards in the Scholastic A Class.
On April 6, the MHS Winter Guard performed in the preliminary round of the championships. They received first place in the preliminary round and continued on to the finals round. On April 7, the MHS Winter Guard performed once more and came home as the NTCA Scholastic A Class State Champions.
The MHS Winter Guard had an outstanding season, placing first in nearly all of their competitions. Clay Singletary, the Melissa ISD Color Guard director, expressed his gratitude for the team by saying, “This school year has been a true testament to their integrity, loyalty, honesty, humility, and hope. These students persevered through so much and were selfless throughout the entire process. The Melissa Color Guard has paved a new way for its future, and what an exciting time it is to be a Melissa Cardinal!”
