Bruce Minchey is the latest honoree selected for induction into the Melissa Schools Wall of Honor. Mr. Minchey will lead the Melissa Homecoming Parade as the grand marshal on Wednesday, Oct. 20, and will be recognized during the community-wide pep rally that evening at Cardinal Stadium.

Mr. Minchey served on the Melissa Schools Board of Trustees for 16 years, bringing a unique, global view and understanding of finance while remaining laser-focused on creating paths to success for all Melissa ISD students. Mr. Minchey currently serves as a board member for the Melissa Education Foundation and has received a Difference Maker award.

Outside of his volunteer efforts, Mr. Minchey and his wife Cherie are the parents of two daughters, both of whom are Melissa Cardinal alumni.

“Bruce Minchey has been a part of the deep roots in Melissa ISD as it has grown to what it is becoming,” shared Kim Boedeker, Deputy Superintendent of Melissa Schools, who nominated Mr. Minchey for the Wall of Honor. “When you think of the core values of Melissa Schools, Bruce represented all of them, but his greatest of all was his integrity. Bruce had ‘the ability to last over time’, sitting on the school board of less than one-thousand students, to stepping away at a time when Melissa ISD’s enrollment was nearing 5,000 students. While on the board, Bruce always brought loyalty to what was in the best interest of students, as well as hope for a better tomorrow. Bruce truly craves the success of our teachers, students, and the school district as a whole. It has been an honor to watch Bruce serve the community of Melissa.”
