Becki Girouard has been hired by the Melissa Education Foundation to serve as the Executive Director, bringing more than 20 years of development experience to the foundation which offers support to Melissa ISD students and staff by providing scholarships and grants.
Throughout her career, Girouard has built partnerships and expanded development markets for numerous organizations, including Children’s Health Systems of Texas, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Susan G. Komen, and the America Heart Association. Girouard holds a degree in organizational communications with a minor in journalism from Texas State University.
In a media release shared by MEF, Girouard said, “It’s really about understanding our supporters and connecting them in meaningful ways to the mission of Melissa Education Foundation and the students and teachers they serve. For me, it’s all about a broad base of collaboration to ensure the kids in our community can reach their full potential.”
MEF board member, Brooke Redden, added, “Becki has a proven track record in developing community partnerships and growing fundraising programs. Her expertise is exactly what we need to build on accomplishments and prepare the foundation to grow along with Melissa ISD, well into the future.”
The Melissa Education Foundation is a 501c3 organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Melissa ISD students through scholarships to seniors and grants to educators in need of special funding for projects and programs. Founded by Doug and Lisa Zadow in 2005, MEF has awarded more than $65 thousand in student scholarships and educator grants.
Community Playoff Tailgate scheduled for Nov. 6
In its first event of the school year, the Melissa Education Foundation will host a Community Playoff Tailgate ("One Team, One Dream") on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at Melissa High School in the Symmetry Plaza, located at 3030 Milrany Lane. The tailgate will include food, fun, and festivities for the entire family.
