The new Melissa ISD elementary school attendance boundaries were approved at the Board of Trustees meeting on March 10, 2025, and are a result of the school board’s collective and ongoing growth planning in collaboration with the Melissa Schools administrative team and independent demographer, MGT Demographics.

Beginning this fall, Melissa ISD PreK through 5th grade students will attend one of the five elementary schools in the district based on the attendance zone in which they live: these five schools are Harry McKillop Elementary, Highland Elementary, North Creek Elementary, Sumeer Elementary, and Willow Wood Elementary.

As we establish new elementary school boundaries, our goal is to optimize student distribution while minimizing disruption for families, keeping neighborhoods together, reducing transportation challenges, and planning with future schools and their anticipated opening timelines in mind.

At this time, parents and guardians can view the map and the list of neighborhoods below to determine elementary zoning for the 2025-2026 school year.

In the coming month, parents can use the Melissa ISD interactive zoning map located on our district website, once updated, to search for their home address and determine which school their child will attend next year. The zoning map can also be used to determine an estimated distance, walking pathway, and driving route between a student’s residence and their school.

Student Enrollment & Registration

Melissa ISD families should note the dates below regarding student enrollment and registration for the 2025-2026 school year.

Online enrollment for students who will be new to Melissa ISD for the 2025-2026 school year opens at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1. For more information about New Student Enrollment, visit www.melissaisd.org/enroll.

Kindergarten Round-Up will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 at the Melissa ISD Home Office. (1904 Cooper St.) Parents and guardians of incoming Kindergarten students are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up to finalize their child’s enrollment.

Melissa ISD offers an eligibility-based Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for qualifying students. The online application for the Pre-K program opens Tuesday, April 1. Beginning in Fall 2025, students who qualify for Pre-K will attend the program at the elementary school the student is zoned to attend. For more information about enrollment and eligibility, visit www.melissaisd.org/prek. For students in the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program, location and placement will be determined during your student’s annual ARD.

Online registration for currently enrolled Melissa ISD students who are returning for the 2025-2026 school year opens Wednesday, July 16. Parents and guardians will receive an individual email alert with their student’s snapcode to begin the registration process. For more information about Returning Student Registration, visit www.melissaisd.org/register.

Bus Transportation Eligibility

Melissa ISD students who reside outside of the two-mile radius of their school are eligible to receive bus transportation. Bus service for eligible students can be requested when completing online enrollment/registration for the upcoming school year.

Keeping in mind the new Melissa ISD elementary school attendance boundaries as well as continued infrastructure developments in Melissa, parents and guardians of current bus riders should confirm whether their student will remain eligible for bus service for the 2025-2026 school year.

Melissa ISD routinely evaluates residential areas within a two-mile radius of each school to determine whether there are safe, walkable pathways for students to take when walking to and from school.

Some students who currently reside within a two-mile radius of their school and receive bus service may no longer be eligible due to infrastructure changes that have resulted in the development of a safe, walkable pathway between home and school that did not previously exist.

Some students who currently reside outside of the two-mile radius of their school and receive bus service may no longer be eligible due to rezoning, meaning that 1) the student now lives within two miles of the school they will attend next year and/or 2) there is a safe, walkable pathway between home and school.

Questions regarding student transportation and bus service eligibility can be directed to the Melissa ISD Transportation Services department at transportation@melissaisd.org or 972-837-4314. Melissa ISD student transportation information can be accessed online at

www.melissaisd.org/transportation.
