The Melissa High School Choir is celebrating a historic achievement, with seven soloists and the school's first-ever ensemble qualifying for the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. These students earned their place at the state level after competing in the Vocal and Piano contests on Saturday, Feb. 8. They will perform at the State Solo & Ensemble Contest on May 24 in Austin.

The UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest challenges students to perform advanced repertoire as soloists or as part of an ensemble. Those who achieve a Division 1 rating qualify for the State Competition, where they will be judged against top performers from across Texas.
