Swim State

Three Melissa High School swimmers showcased their talent at the UIL Regional 13-5A Swim Meet on January 24, 2025, at the Prosper Natatorium, with one athlete earning a spot at the State competition for the first time in MISD history!

Junior Maxim Smirnov delivered a standout performance, placing 2nd in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 59.09, securing his qualification for the UIL 5A State Swim Meet on February 21-22, 2025, at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas.

Sophomore Everett Bell impressed in multiple events, finishing 4th in the Boys 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.45 and 7th in the Boys 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 50.33. Maxim also competed in the 50-Yard Freestyle, placing 14th with a time of 23.56. Senior Abiel Torres swam in the Boys 100-Yard Butterfly, securing 14th place with a time of 57:97.

A huge congratulations to all three Cardinal swimmers on their achievements, and best of luck to Maxim as he competes at State next week!
