Three Melissa High School Students Qualified for UIL Regional Swim Meet

Three Melissa High School students participated in the UIL District 13-5A Swim Meet, representing Melissa ISD on January 24, 2025, at the Prosper Natatorium. All three Cardinals advanced to the Regional Meet: sophomore Everett Bell, junior Maxim Smirnov, and senior Abiel Torres.

Competing across a variety of events, Bell excelled in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle, securing 2nd place with a time of 22:40. In the same event, Smirnov and Torres claimed 4th with a time of 23:33 and 8th with a time of 24:25.

In the Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke, Smirnov claimed 1st place with a time of 1:00:41 Torres competed in the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly, securing 6th place with a time of 58:02. Bell took on the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle, placing 3rd with a time of 51:32.

The MHS Cardinals concluded the competition in 4th place in the bracket with a total of 41 points, earning them all a spot in the UIL Regionals Swim Meet on Feb. 7-8, 2025, at New Caney ISD. Best of luck to our outstanding Cardinal swimmers!
