Melissa High School junior Madison Fulenchek has achieved one of the highest honors for a high school musician in Texas by earning a prestigious spot in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 5A All-State Band. This accomplishment places Madison in the top 1 percent of students in Texas and among the finest young musicians in the state, reflecting her dedication, talent, and hard work.
Madison shared her excitement about this milestone: "I’m very excited that I reached my goal of becoming an All-State musician. I look forward to meeting the other All-Staters and participating in a state-performing trumpet section and ensemble. I’m also happy to be a role model for those around me in Melissa. If I can do this, so can others.”
The TMEA All-State Band is considered the pinnacle of high school music achievement in Texas. Each year, over seventy thousand students from across the state audition for one of 1,810 spots, making Madison’s accomplishment even more remarkable.
Kevin McNulty, Director of Bands at Melissa ISD, expressed his pride in Madison’s success, “Becoming an All-State musician is the ultimate achievement for a high school musician in Texas. I’m extremely happy for Maddie, and know that she’ll represent Melissa at the highest level in San Antonio.”
Madison will join other elite student musicians in San Antonio this February for the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention, where the All-State ensembles will rehearse and perform under the direction of nationally recognized conductors. This event celebrates excellence in music education and performance, and Madison’s participation is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication.
Melissa ISD congratulates Madison Fulenchek on this outstanding achievement and wishes her the best as she prepares to perform with the TMEA 5A All-State Band.
