TAEA Youth Art Month

Congratulations to Melissa Middle School seventh-grade student, Katelyn Templin, for being selected by the Youth Art Month Committee for the Texas Art Education Association’s (TAEA) Youth Art Month Spring Exhibition 2025. Her artwork, Drifting with Curious Imagination, will be displayed at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin during March as part of Youth Art Month. An awards ceremony will take place on March 9, 2025.

Melissa Middle School Art Teacher Barbara Strickland shared her excitement, saying, “I am incredibly proud of Katelyn! She is an exceptional artist and a complete jewel.”

The TAEA hosts the annual Youth Art Month Spring Exhibition every March to celebrate the creativity of K-12 students in Texas. The event features over 100 student artworks, with highlights including an awards celebration for outstanding Flag Design winners and a showcase of selected pieces in the Governor's Business Office. This prestigious exhibition underscores the value of art education and the immense talent of Texas students.

Congratulations once again to Katelyn Templin on this remarkable achievement! We are proud to have her represent Melissa Middle School. A special thank you goes to her art teacher, Barbara Strickland, for inspiring and guiding young artists like Katelyn.
