Melissa Ridge Education Center (MREC) hosted a Smiles in Schools event on Wednesday, January 15, providing essential dental care to 136 students whose parents registered for services. Services included check-ups and fluoride treatments. MREC Nurse Ashley Johnson partnered with the Smiles for Schools program to offer parents a convenient and accessible way for their children to receive dental care.
Smiles in Schools is a program dedicated to promoting oral health awareness and delivering vital dental care directly to students. Through partnerships with schools, dental professionals, and community organizations, the program offers preventive services and oral health education on school campuses. By addressing dental needs in a familiar setting, Smiles in Schools reduces barriers to care and ensures children can focus on learning while maintaining bright and healthy smiles.
The success of the Smiles in Schools event at Melissa Ridge Education Center highlights the importance of community partnerships in supporting student health. Special thanks to Nurse Johnson and all those involved in making this opportunity possible for MREC students.
