Melissa Elementary Schools participated in the Melissa Booster Club’s annual "Fill the Fan Bus" fall food drive this month, collecting donations to benefit the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry. On Friday, Nov. 8, student ambassadors from each campus helped load the donations onto the Melissa ISD fan bus. Together, the elementary students donated an impressive 11,119 nonperishable food items.
A special congratulations goes to Sumeer Elementary, which led the charge with 3,678 items, followed closely by the other three elementary schools. Additionally, a huge shoutout to Willow Wood Elementary teacher Mrs. Bazel, whose class contributed the most cans in the district! We also would like to recognize Ms. Blake's class at Sumeer Elementary, Ms. Staple's class at Harry McKillop Elementary, and Ms. Sopko's class at North Creek Elementary for collecting the most cans at their respective campuses.
Thanks to our Cardinals' incredible generosity, Conserva Irrigation, the sponsor of this year's drive, will be making donations to all of our elementary campuses. The highest-contributing classrooms will also be treated to a pizza party in celebration of their outstanding efforts.
Way to go, Cardinals! Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our community.
