Three Melissa ISD students showcased their exceptional talents at the National SkillsUSA Championships, held from June 24-28, 2024. Recent Melissa High School graduate Tyler Mathieson, along with Melissa Middle School students Hannah Gil and Anjali Kallakuri, represented their district in their respective chapters.
Tyler Mathieson delivered an outstanding performance, securing the title of 2024 National Champion in Technical Computer Applications after excelling in a rigorous three-day competition involving 13 IT-related tasks. This achievement marked his second consecutive year at Nationals, having previously earned the Runner-Up position.
In their respective chapters, Hannah Gil earned the title of 2024 National Middle School Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking, while Anjali Kallakuri received the bronze medal in Pin Design.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that supports students in career and technical education programs across the U.S. It helps students develop essential workplace skills like leadership, teamwork, and technical expertise through competitions, conferences, and professional development opportunities. SkillsUSA prepares students for careers in various fields by emphasizing hands-on learning and fostering a competitive spirit.
