CTE IBC + Program Completers

A huge congratulations goes out to our MISD Career and Technical Education Program (CTE) who had 254 students pass their Industry-Based Certification (IBC) exams and 107 senior students complete their CTE Program of Study. This marks the highest number of students who have both passed their IBC certifications and completed their CTE program of study.

IBCs are recognized by the state as industry-standard certifications. With this certification, students can compete against real-world professionals and use these certifications as they move into their future careers.

Graduating seniors who completed their CTE Program of Study will get to walk across the stage with their green cord. These senior students completed their CTE Program of Study by taking three or more courses for a total of four or more credits within the same Program of Study. This requires serious dedication to their Program of Study to earn this achievement.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Melissa ISD CTE program will offer 27 Programs of Study with a total of 128 courses available at the high school level. The MISD CTE program partners with both Princeton ISD and Collin County Community College to provide this extensive range of opportunities. For the full list of CTE programs and courses, visit the CTE website or pages 31-33 and 67-95 on MHS Academic Planning Guide.

Congratulations to these exemplary students for their dedication to academics! Thank you to MHS CTE Coordinator Doug Bingman, CTE Middle School Coordinator Samantha Yarbrough, and all the CTE teachers who have guided these students to achieve such a significant accomplishment. Melissa ISD would also like to thank Debi Crawford, the Executive Director of Technology & HIRE Education, for her four incredible years of building the exceptional Melissa ISD CTE program we have today.
