OAP State

The Melissa High School One-Act Play had an outstanding season, advancing to the UIL State 5A OAP Competition for the first time in program history and securing 5th place overall. The MHS OAP performed their production of This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing by Finegan Kruckemeyer at the State OAP Competition on Friday, May 17, at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.

Competing in a division of 267 schools, the MHS OAP qualified for state alongside seven other schools. Their performance earned them an incredible 5th place finish.

Additionally, the combined points from the OAP and the AV Production’s State finishes in Film led to the school being named Second Runner-up in the UIL State 5A Theatre Team Champions.

Four MHS OAP students received individual awards for their exceptional performances: Avery Greene, Halle Heywood, Kolby Schulz, and Bailey Thornburg. Congratulations to these students and the entire team for their incredible hard work.

A special acknowledgment goes to the OAP and Film teachers, Kyle Brenner, Randy Kramen, Aubrey Moore, and Megan Moore, who guided and supported these students to this remarkable achievement. For more information, visit UIL One-Act Play State Meet Results.
