Army Visit

The Melissa ISD Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) welcomed US Army recruiters, along with a K9 unit, from Fort Sill, Oklahoma on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. During their visit with students, the recruiters highlighted the diverse benefits of military service, including job opportunities, education benefits, and global travel experiences. They emphasized the range of opportunities available to those considering joining the military.

The K9 unit brought their gear to show the students, as well as demonstrated K9 Officer Donald’s abilities as a military K9. Students were given the chance to choose a staff member to participate in the demonstration. Principal Havens was unanimously chosen by the students to put on the bite suit and run from K9 Officer Donald, resulting in his swift apprehension!

Thank you to the US Army recruiters for not only your time talking to our students but also for your service to our country.
