On Wednesday, April 24, Mathews Auto Group (Honda and Nissan in Paris, TX) celebrated two extremely deserving educators from Melissa ISD by honoring them through their "Pay it Forward" initiative.
Among the honorees was Jenna Carr, a dedicated first-grade teacher at Willow Wood Elementary. Principal Precious Bell expressed her gratitude for Carr, saying, 'Jenna is so deserving of this award! Her grit, tenacity, and commitment to our Cardinals are unmatched!'
Kisha Maurer, a sixth-grade science teacher at the Melissa Sixth Grade Center, was also honored. Tommy Shiflett, the principal at the Sixth Grade Center, spoke highly of Maurer, saying, 'Mrs. Maurer is a phenomenal asset to the Melissa Sixth Grade campus. She puts her students first in every leadership decision she makes, helping to ensure they have a positive educational experience on a daily basis, holding everyone to the high standard expected in Melissa ISD.'
The dealership owners, Tim and Julie Anderson, are a former Melissa Cardinal family and initiated the 'Pay it Forward' program to recognize teachers who go above and beyond for students and the school without expecting anything in return. Both Carr and Maurer were awarded $250 each through this initiative as a thank you for their service in education.
Congratulations to these outstanding teachers! We deeply appreciate your dedication to our Cardinals.
