Twenty-three students from Melissa Middle School and High School participated in the SkillsUSA State competition, held in Corpus Christi from April 3-6, 2024. Of these 23 students, 17 earned medals, and three advanced to the National Conference. Their awards are outlined below.
Tyler Mathieson, a student at Melissa High School, achieved the highest honors by securing first place in Technical Computer Applications and qualifying for Nationals. Additionally, ten students from Melissa Middle School took part in the competition, with two qualifying for Nationals: Sai Anjali Kallaakuri in Pin Design and Hannah Gil in Extemporaneous Speaking.
The SkillsUSA National Conference will be held in Atlanta, GA, from June 24-28, 2024.
SkillsUSA participation is led by CTE Coordinator, Doug Bingman and Dr. Debi Crawford, Executive Director of Technology & HIRE Education. Thank you to the CTE teachers, Keith Ellis, Randy Kramen, Rick Gagarin, and Tom Kyle, who have worked with these SkillsUSA students to fine-tune their skills for competition season.
