The Melissa Education Foundation has honored four MISD Educators by awarding $10,000 in teacher grants to MISD Educators. Fall 2023 MEF Grant recipients were selected out of fifteen applications.

MEF Board Member/ Teacher Grant Committee Chair Casey Rainey stated, “The MEF Board is excited about the innovation and passion for teaching demonstrated by MISD Educators. Our Teachers are truly inspiring. We look forward to seeing the Teacher Grant program continue to grow.”
The fall grants were awarded on the heels of a successful Crazy for Cards annual campaign and as MEF kicks off Mardi Gras Melissa 2024 ticket/ sponsor sales. MEF Mardi Gras Melissa Gala is the organization’s top fundraiser of the year. The foundation is putting a Texas twist on things this year with the theme Mardi Gras, Y’all. This year’s event promises a great night of community fellowship, food and fun! The event will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Cotton Mill. Attendees can expect a fantastic evening with a full dinner, live music, silent and live auctions plus a few new surprises. The mission of Melissa Education Foundation is to enrich the lives of Melissa ISD students through scholarships, teacher grants and educational opportunities. The foundation has given out over $1.2 million dollars in teacher grants and student scholarships since its founding in 2006. MEF Executive Director Becki Girouard stated, “The support and pride Melissa ISD shares for our students is unmatched. We are tremendously proud of the dedication all our educators exhibit every day. Being able to pull the community together through MEF to support our students and teachers is an honor.”
