Melissa ISD would like to congratulate 2023 Wall of Honor Inductees, Shelly and Kurt Kaetterhenry.
The Katterhenry's have been serving Melissa ISD since their two children, Kaleb & Krista started kindergarten in 1995. Shelly spent countless hours volunteering at Melissa Ridge Elementary, helping with the science fair, art fair, field trips, the carnival, and more. As a room mom, she served so much, she became known as “the mom” to Melissa Ridge Elementary.
Through junior high, Kurt served as the President of the Athletics Booster Club. Whether it was cleaning up a muddy football field or refereeing a ball game, Kurt was always ready to help. When Melissa High School opened in 2003, the Kaetterhenry’s continued to serve on the booster club, volunteer, and run concessions. Kurt also helped Doug Zadow set up the very first Melissa Open Golf Tournament, connected our Cardinals with companies around the area, and coached youth sports in Melissa for many years.
The couple’s son, Kaleb, was in the first graduating class as the salutatorian, attending the Naval Academy, while their daughter, Krista, was one of the most entertaining and successful Birdies, earning a mascot scholarship from The University of North Texas. Above all, the Kaetterhenry’s are known for their heart of service and exemplifying the Cardinal Way. Thank you, Kurt and Shelly, for all you have done for Melissa ISD.
The Kaetterhenry’s were joined by family, Krista and Dominick Ezell, and grandchildren, Claire, Caroline, and Charlotte as they received their awards.
