Melissa ISD Dance

Mission

The Melissa Dance Program aims to empower student dancers to reach their potential and appreciate dance as an art form. It will offer quality training in various dance styles and performance chances to display students' creativity and effort. As the program expands, students can take classes at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, enhancing their skills, self-expression, and teamwork abilities, while building confidence.

Audition Information

The Ruby Belles Drill Team is hosting tryouts from January 27-31, 2025. Current 8-11th grade students are eligible to audition for the team. An interest meeting will be held to learn more about the new team and qualifications for tryouts. Be a part of history and start the Ruby Belles Legacy! Joanna Ingram is the Head Dance Director for the new Melissa High School Dance Program. She will serve as a dance instructor for the 2024-2025 school year, with plans to coach the future Melissa Dance Team.

Ms. Ingram is a graduate of Allen High School, where she was a member of the Allen Tallenettes. With the Tallenettes, she performed at the 2013 Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, a Dallas Cowboys halftime, and the 2016 Rose Parade. She then went on to Texas State University, where she was a member of the World Famous Texas State Strutters. As a Strutter, she performed at San Antonio Spurs games and the 2017 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. She graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Dance Education.

Prior to coming to Melissa, Ms. Ingram served as the Assistant Dance Director at Boswell High School in Fort Worth for 5 years. She helped coach the award-winning Pure Gold Dance Team, as well as directed the Gold Dust JV Dance Team. She also taught dance classes for middle and high school students and helped to grow the Boswell dance program.

Ms. Ingram’s favorite styles of dance are Contemporary and Jazz, and her favorite performance group is the Radio City Rockettes. She is thrilled to be a part of Melissa ISD and is excited to share her passion for dance with the students of Melissa HS!
