The Melissa ISD academic calendar is recommended by the District Site-Based Decision Committee and approved by the Melissa Schools Board of Trustees annually, prior to each new school year. Each year, the calendar is re-evaluated and adjusted depending on the dates of certain national holidays, state testing days, graduation dates, and Collin College instruction schedules, as well as required professional learning days for teachers.

The District Site-Based Decision Committee carefully creates the calendar after taking these parameters and numerous other needs and suggestions into consideration.
