Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Instruction: Begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 3:18 p.m.

Morning Carpool: One line runs from 7:15 – 7:40 a.m. Carpool shuts down by 7:40 a.m. Students arriving after 7:40 a.m. must enter through the front office and be signed in.

Walker Dismissal Procedures

In an effort to increase the safety of our school, we are changing how we have previously released walkers. If you want to meet your walker, you will need to follow the steps below and meet them in the designated waiting area found on the map. Grades K-1 will need to either walk with an older sibling or meet a parent in the designated area. Grades 2-5 will still be allowed to walk home on their own.

Walker Dismissal Steps to Follow for Parents/Guardians

  • Determine if your student walks toward Washington Dr. or Liberty Way. Their teacher will need to know.

  • Grades K-1: Let your student's teacher know if your student is walking with an older sibling or who their pick-up person will be.

  • Grades 2-5: Let your student's teacher know if your student will be meeting an adult in the pick-up area or if they will be walking home on their own.

  • Do not come onto campus to pick up your student. You will need to wait in the designated waiting area. The teacher will not release your student to you until they have reached the designated waiting area.

Carpool Procedures

With safety in mind, carpool procedures take effect on the first day of school at Harry McKillop Elementary. Carpool information will be available on the student’s desk during Meet the Teacher.

Mirror Tags

Mirror Tag

Additionally, each family will receive THREE (3) mirror tags per child that feature the child’s number. This tag can be used in the event that the car with the sticker is not being used in carpool. It can also be given to a friend or family member who is picking up the child.

  • Tags are not easily reproduced and are designed to maximize safety during carpool.

  • Tags that are photocopied or reproduced in any way will not be accepted.

  • No extra mirror tags will be given out. Please keep the tag in a safe place.

  • SAFETY TIP: Remove the carpool tag while driving outside of carpool pick-up.

Transportation Card

Each family will receive a Transportation Card to fill out for each child attending Harry McKillop Elementary.

No Mirror Tag = No Carpool Pickup

The child’s number on a mirror tag will be the ONLY acceptable identifier during carpool. If there is no tag present during carpool, you will be required to report to the front office to be identified before picking up your child.

Lost/Misplaced Numbers

Please exercise caution. If a mirror tag is compromised in any way, please let the school know immediately.
