Mission:

The Melissa High School Choral Department would like to continue a rich tradition of musical excellence based on high musical standards. Our commitment for the 2024-2025 school year is to become a visible choral music department, actively involving over 120 choral students in the High School and 510 in the Middle School with consistent corporate and individual musical excellence.

Head Choir Director Victoria Kensek

Victoria Kensek is the Director of Choirs at Melissa ISD, where she also serves as the Head High School Choir Director. Now in her fourth year with Melissa ISD, Ms. Kensek oversees a robust choir program, directing the Varsity Mixed Choir, Varsity Treble Choir, Non-Varsity Treble Choir, Non-Varsity Tenor Bass Choir, Show Choir, and the Fifth Grade Honor Choir. She also collaborates with the Melissa Theatre Department as the music director for their musicals. Since her arrival, Ms. Kensek has grown the choir program by 700%, and enrollment continues to increase each year.

Prior to joining Melissa ISD, Ms. Kensek taught high school choir in Illinois for 12 years, where her choirs were known for their high levels of performance. Her choirs consistently achieve top UIL ratings, produce Region Choir qualifiers, and include participants in National Honor Choirs.

Ms. Kensek, originally from Illinois, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master of Music Education degree from Illinois State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Lamar University.
