The Melissa High School robotics team has qualified to advance to the UIL BEST of Texas Robotics state tournament for the fifth consecutive year, after competing at regionals earlier this month.
At the regional competition, Melissa robotics won third place overall against schools in division 1A through 6A, and was the runner-up amongst schools in division 4A and below. The team – this year consisting of 25 students from Melissa High School – was also awarded a superlative for best software design.
“The kids competed very well,” said coach Rick Gagarin. “Our engineering notebook kids scored excellent, along with our marketing presentation team and the marketing exhibit team. The drivers of the robot scored well enough to make the finals and pull out a third place finish.”
The state robotics tournament will take place from Dec. 2-4, 2021 at the Frisco Convention Center and Comerica Center. To view the full tournament schedule and other details, visit bestoftexasrobotics.org.
