Mission:

The Melissa ISD Theatre Program is committed to igniting students' passion for the performing arts by providing a dynamic and immersive experience in all aspects of theatre. We focus on developing students' talents in acting, stagecraft, and production, encouraging them to explore their creativity and take bold risks on and off the stage. Through collaborative projects and performances, our program nurtures a sense of community, resilience, and empathy, preparing students to become confident storytellers and thoughtful leaders. Our mission is to create a vibrant theatre culture that enriches the Melissa ISD community and inspires lifelong engagement with the arts.

Megan Moore Headshot

Head Theatre Director Megan Moore

Megan Moore is proud to be the Director of Melissa Theatre. For the past 9 years, she has taught Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Production, and directed at Melissa High School. During this time, Ms. Moore has directed 10 musicals, including the most recent production of 9 to 5. Melissa High School’s musicals have received numerous Broadway Dallas High School Musical Awards nominations, and in 2021, Ms. Moore was honored with the Broadway Dallas Outstanding Educator Award. Additionally, Ms. Moore has directed 9 UIL One Act Plays, advancing to the Regional level every year and to the UIL State meet four times. State placements include 2nd place in 2018, 2019, and 2022, and a 5th place finish in 2024. In 2018, Ms. Moore was named Melissa High School and Melissa ISD District Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Moore graduated from Baylor University in 2009 with a BFA in Theatre Performance. After graduation, Ms. Moore moved to New York City, where she was selected as one of fifteen people to participate in the American Theatre Wing’s Springboard NYC Musical Theatre division. While in New York, Ms. Moore gained valuable experience while working and training in the professional theatre industry for 5 years.

In her free time, Ms. Moore enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending live performances, and playing with her two cats, Wallace and Davis.
